    Description

Rare "Cap Anson for Sheriff" Cuff Link. The successful and storied baseball career of Cap Anson is well documented. After he retired as a player, his interests were diverse but most ended in failure, considering his social inclinations, some may say call it karma. Failed attempts to buy a team in the Western League followed by a failed attempt to organize the New American Base Ball Association followed. Multiple businesses and the formation of semi-pro baseball and football teams failed but a combination billiards hall/bowling alley did thrive for some time. Anson was elected as City Clerk of Chicago in 1905. He lost the Democratic primary to become sheriff in 1907. That is where this rare collectible come from. Offered is a ¾" baseball themed dark metal cuff-link which reads, "Cap Anson for Sheriff." There is just some very mild surface wear to note.
