Description
Late 1930's Autograph Book Signed by Babe Ruth, Red Grange. Charming childhood volume is populated mainly by silly little poems from summer camp buddies and family members, though a few celebrities do find their way into its pages. Most notable is a postcard from a Clearwater, FL hotel autographed by an assortment of seventeen Big League ballplayers, almost certainly acquired during spring training festivities. The cast of characters is a mixture of several teams, though we expect that Babe Ruth, whose autograph remains in the boldest of pencil, was in service to the Brooklyn Dodgers as a coach at the time. Sharing space with him on the postcard, also in NRMT pencil, are the likes of Frank Crosetti, Danny MacFayden, Myril Hoag, Red Rolfe and Jimmy Deshong. Several pages later, signed directly on the pale pink album sheet, is a flawless Red Grange autograph, and deeper still into the volume we find big band leader Benny Goodman together with his top vocalist Martha Tilton (each 10/10 blue ink). The 5x6" leatherbound volume remains in wonderful condition, as does the entirety of its contents. LOA from PSA/DNA.
