    Description

Josh Johnson Original Ron Lewis Painting. Sports artist Ron Lewis created thirty Negro League painting's in the early 1990's to be recreated into Postcards to honor these forgotten legends. Presented here is a stirring portrait of Homestead Grays catcher Josh Johnson, who didn't make anyone forget about Josh Gibson, but was an excellent power hitting catcher. Once Gibson moved to the Pittsburgh Crawford's Johnson took over behind the plate. He hit some of the longest homers in the history of Crosley field, and a few into the monuments of Yankee Stadium. This 12" x 9" acrylic on canvas board shows Johnson in a familiar position grasping the ball while in the crouch. This evocative masterpiece is signed and dated at lower right by the artist.
