Description

Frank Home Run Baker Miscellany, Large Group Lot. Wide array of material derived from the descendants of Hall of Famer Frank Home Run Baker includes many items that relate to his personal and baseball-playing life. Includes a vintage baseball which has been dated October 1931, presenting the possibility that it could have been used during that year's Fall Classic that pitted Baker's former team the Athletics against the rival Redbirds of St. Louis. Seeing how his legend was solid among A's players, it would stand to reason that he could have been presented with one of the game balls. Also includes a locket with photos bearing the initials of and formerly owned by Baker's wife, a 1911 Spalding Guide, a 1932 Chicago, a home portrait, a pair of cabinet photos of Mickey Cochrane and another vintage Athletic in their Philadelphia A's uniforms, a 1949 New York Yankees team photograph with facsimile signatures, a lengthy handwritten letter in his father's hand -- a sort of autobiography, and a couple of invitations. Perhaps the most interesting is a white Hall of Fame plaque which is not signed but has been handwritten to read: "Bet you can't guess who this is from," in Baker's hand. Remarkable chance to own this Hall of Fame group of material.
