    Description

Enormous 1914 Boston Braves World Champions Pennant. The intimate details of this incredible piece have been lost to history, such questions as manufacturer and original purpose (did it fly at the stadium?), but three things are for certain--it's huge, it's original to 1914, and it's as rare as rare can be. Stretching the tape measure to an unbelievable fifty-five inches from stem to stern, this mammoth felt pennant represents not only the largest we've seen from this era, but the best we've seen from the Miracle Braves, a last place team that won four out of every five games for the second half of the 1914 season to win the pennant and the Series in the greatest turnaround in Major League Baseball history. Bold block lettered text spells out the terms of glory, reading, "Boston, Worlds Champions 1914." A batting figure appears at left. Condition is admittedly imperfect, though this is to be expected for a piece of this size, construction and vintage, and the pennant still displays very nicely despite the scattering of holes and tears which should be clearly visible in our catalog imagery. Given the importance and overwhelming scarcity of the piece, concerns over condition must be given a minor role at best. Like the team it commemorates, the very existence of the pennant itself is a genuine "Miracle."
