    Description

Early 1980's Gary Carter Game Worn Catcher's Mitt from The Gary Carter Collection. Gary Carter was a complete player. At the plate he hit for power and you could count on him to drive in runs. Behind the mask, he called a smart game, worked well with pitchers, had a strong arm to second, and was under oath to defend the plate. His defensive prowess did not go unnoticed, and from 1980-82 he was a Gold Glove recipient. This particular game used glove hails from the period when Carter was a Gold Glove fielder, runs batted in champion, and perennial All-Star and MVP candidate.

The Wilson mitt is a "Professional Model 1790" with "Snap Action" and heavy game wear (1.5" tear in the leather in the pocket). A round Wilson tag and rectangle Wilson/MLB tag are sewn onto the outside of the glove with "Kid 8" in vintage black marker. This a HOF catcher's game worn glove form the apex of his career when, as Sports Illustrated put it, he was "the best in the business." A world-class piece directly from the source. Letter of provenance from Sandy Carter.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
