    Description

Circa 2000 Don Larsen Signed Limited Edition Giclee by Stephen Holland. This definitive portrait of Larsen during the greatest World Series game ever pitched is unmistakably the work of acclaimed artist Holland, perhaps best known as the painter commissioned to produce the portrait of Muhammad Ali for the gala event naming him "Athlete of the Century." The Yankee pitcher lets one fly in front of a background of Brooklyn goose eggs, and has signed the work at left center, "Don Larsen, PG 10-8-56, 27 Up, 27 Down." The artist has signed at lower right, and has numbered the print at lower left, "DLP 7/56," an attractive serial number for fans of that season's Triple Crown winner Mickey Mantle. Canvas measures 22.5x41.5" in size, with the attractive frame completing the dimensions at 26x45".

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
