Description

Circa 2000 Carl Mays Original Artwork by Arthur Miller. The early New York Yankees pitcher's submarine delivery is masterfully captured here, providing the viewer with an approximation of Ray Chapman's final vision on earth before being fatally beaned at the Polo Grounds in 1920. The impressive work measures 26x32" in size, with a simple yet attractive wooden frame expanding each dimension by three inches. Guide Value or Estimate: $1,500 - $2,500.

The Arthur K. Miller Original Art Collection

The following three stirring acrylic on board masterworks derive from the studio of Arthur K. Miller, an eminently skilled New England painter whose work has been exhibited as a one-man show at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown since the year 2000 and is likewise featured in many upscale galleries and private collections worldwide. Though Miller's style could be characterized accurately at photorealism, his works suggest far more than hypersensitivity to detail, with his brilliant command of light and shadow providing a soulfulness that no photograph could muster.
