Circa 1995 "Babe's Dream" Sculpture by Susan Luery. "Meet me at the Babe Ruth statue" is a common directive among Orioles fans holding tickets for their friends, as the masterful ten-foot tall bronze likeness of Baltimore's favorite son serves as the most recognizable landmark at Camden Yards. It stands at the corner of West Camden and South Eutaw Streets, the outsized dimensions allowing for easy sighting, and serving expertly in its role of honoring this larger-than-life baseball icon. The statue was completed in 1994 and unveiled the following year to mark the centennial of the Babe's birth less than a mile away.

Sculptor Susan Luery, who created this twenty-eight inch tall limited edition bronze, described the pose eloquently: "A man looking at his destiny. His poise was in the sense of determination that he was a great player. He's facing out - he had everything in front of him. Ruth's career rose pretty much straight into the record books from there." On the day the statue was unveiled, the Babe's daughter Julia Ruth Stevens threw out the game's first pitch.

It should be noted that this twenty-eight inch tall format was the true original--the large-scale version was produced subsequently--and certainly the edition number matching the digit that the Babe wore to such distinction sets the offered representation apart. The ninety-pound (90 lb.) bronze stands upon a marble base, ready both figuratively and literally to serve as an anchor for the finest of private collections. One of the finest three-dimensional baseball artworks ever executed. Numbered 53/100. Letter of provenance from Susan Luery. Third party shipping required.
