Circa 1961 Bill "Moose" Skowron Game Used Fielder's Glove. He represented the New York Yankees in five consecutive All-Star Games, including the 1961 edition during which he likely wore this very glove. The dependable first baseman during the most fruitful era in franchise history, Skowron was one of several Yanks to donate his glove this year to Harold Youngman, a business partner of Mickey Mantle who intended to display the gloves at Mantle's Holiday Inn hotel and restaurant. After the closure of the hotel, the gloves were then donated to the Baxter Springs Little League Museum, where they were displayed until they were deaccessioned along with some historic Mantle home run baseballs that have likewise found there way into the collecting hobby. The "Rawlings Trapper" first baseman's mitt exhibits solid wear from one of the most exciting seasons in Bronx history with "Moose" and, for an unknown reason, "R.Y." written in marker at the wrist. Original museum display tag is included, as is a photocopy of a 1994 letter attesting to the provenance of the full collection of gloves from which this Skowron derives. Photocopied Letter of provenance from Baxter Springs Little League president.
