Circa 1959 Elston Howard Game Worn New York Yankees Jacket. Elston Howard's place in Yankees' history is secure. The first African American to don pinstripes, Howard was a great choice given his even-keeled disposition and ability to silence critics. The backstop's resume just beckons for a Hall of Fame call given he was named to 12 All-Star Games, won the 1963 A.L. MVP and pocketed six World Series rings. Sourced from a former teammate is this impressive Howard game worn jacket. The bottom inner zipper path has a "[size] 46" label, which we believe was done by Spalding and "Howard" chainstitched to a swatch. "Yankees" is underscored on front in white-on-navy felt. Navy and white colors are captured on the ribbed neck, sleeves and tail for a dose of personality. A leather fastener is disengaged on one end in the collar. The zipper is missing a few teeth on the lowermost portion. Only a precious few Howard game worn relics have surfaced in the collecting industry. LOA from Heritage Auctions.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
