Circa 1950 Phil Rizzuto Original Cartoon Artwork by Mullin. Exceptional pen and ink work is unmistakably that of The Sporting News' esteemed cartoonist Willard Mullin, best remembered today as the creator of the famous Brooklyn Dodgers "Bum." Here we find his charming study of the Hall of Fame Yankees shortstop, drawn for publication in advance of Phil Rizzuto Day at the Stadium. The work measures 14x15" on artist's paper, and is signed by Mullin in the lower right quadrant. A simple framing job extends the complete dimensions to 19x20". Given as a gift to Rizzuto by Mullin following the cartoon's publication, it is offered today with a signed letter of provenance from Rizzuto's widow Cora.
