Description

Circa 1910's Rube Waddell Fireman's Baton - From the Rube Waddell Family. Rube Waddell was not only a legendary pitcher but also a larger-than-life personality with a childlike wonder that endeared him to fans. One of his most charming quirks was his deep fascination with fire trucks. Whenever he heard a fire alarm, he was known to dash off mid-game to follow the engines, captivated by the excitement and heroism. This playful passion reflected his free spirit and sense of adventure, making him unforgettable beyond the diamond. His love for fire trucks added color to his already vibrant persona, cementing Waddell as one of baseball's most unique and beloved characters in history.

We can't think of an item more apropos for Waddell to own than this fireman's baton which was presented to the baseball legend. This wooden baton (20.25") still has a blue string attached to the end. "Presented to Rube Waddell" is screened onto the front. If there was one thing which stood atop Waddell's mantel, it had to be this unique presentation piece.
