Circa 1890 "Our National Game" Boston vs. New York Prototype Game. Unique wooden creation may or may not have ever made it into production, but handwritten text at the top reports "Patent applied for." It's not entirely clear how the game functions, but the center cylinder appears to be operated by a handle on the back, which somehow directs the ball (not included) to fall into various divots marked with various game play outcomes. A forest of nails bounce the ball to randomize the result. Players can choose to represent either the "Bostons" or the "New Yorks," speaking to a fierce rivalry that still exists today (though, of course, this game predates the dawn of the American League). Wood construction. Dimensions 12x24".
