    Buck O'Neil Painting. In 2008 The Chicago Baseball Museum Commsioned artist Grant Smith to create 2 paintings for the movie "Buck O'Neil And Black Baseball In Chicago." Offered is one of the original paintings which measures 24" x 20", oil on Masonite board. The Hall of Famer played firstbase with the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro AmericanLeague, claiming a pair of batting titles. As Monarchs manager, his teams captured four pennants. Later in his career, in the role of scout, coach and good will ambassador, O'Neil did much to bridge the racial gap that existed in the game. He also took part four in East-West All-Star Games, which were played at Comiskey Park annually. The painting shows monarch butterflies an symbol of innocence and freedom, as well as various Chicago related advertisements in Comiskey Park.
