2009 C.C. Sabathia Yankee Stadium Opening Day Used Fielder's Glove. Over 48,000 fans turned out on April 16, 2009 to participate in true Bronx history, as the new Yankee Stadium opened its doors for the first time. Though the home team could not match the 1923 team's feat of christening a new stadium with a victory, the Yankees would replicate the far more significant accomplishment of a World Championship to end that debut season. On the mound that day for the first ever contest at the new park was 2006 Cy Young winner C.C. Sabathia, who wore this glove as he delivered the first pitch ever thrown there in competition. The Rawlings PRO1000-9TI exhibits solid game wear with Sabathia's tribute to his fallen cousin Nathan Berhel, "R.I.P. NB," embroidered on thumb. His blue sharpie notation on the webbing serves as provenance: "CC Sabathia, Game Used Opening Day 2009." This was likewise Sabathia's first appearance in pinstripes. Letter of provenance from C.C. Sabathia. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
