Description
Exceptionally Rare and Desirable Ring Marks End of "The Curse of the Bambino!"
2004 Boston Red Sox World Championship Ring Presented to Pitcher Jimmy Anderson. Yes, we know, we know--all you Red Sox fans took none too kindly to the enormous fanfare (and painful memories) that came along with the record-setting $400,000+ sale of the notorious Bill Buckner ball by Heritage Auctions just a few months ago. Maybe now we can be friends again, as we leave the Agony of '86 behind and focus instead on the Glory of '04, when the never-say-die Sox clawed their way back from a three to nothing ALCS deficit to win an astonishing eight straight, supplying all but a handful of geriatric New Englanders their first taste of World Championship glory. Here we present the physical embodiment of that miraculous achievement, the nail in the coffin of The Curse of the Bambino--an actual player's ring presented to relief pitcher Jimmy Anderson for his service to a team which, in one impossible October, earned baseball immortality. After nearly nine decades of waiting, it's little surprise that management spared no expense, crafting a ring simply swimming in diamonds and rubies, and crafted from eighteen karat gold. The team's ruby-red logo "B" rests in a diamond-studded baseball diamond on the face, ringed with still more diamonds and the those long-prayed-for words, "World Champions." Left shank provides an enameled "sox" logo and the text "Greatest Comeback in History 2004, 8 Straight." Right shank identifies the player by name and jersey number, "Anderson 56," with an image of Fenway Park, the World Series trophy and the words "4-0 Sweep."
Interior of band is stamped "86 Years, 10-27-04, Josten's 18K ." Measures to a size ten. Total ring weight approximately eighty grams.
