2004 Boston "City of Champions" Prototype Ring Celebrating Red Sox & Patriots Success. How quickly the landscape can change. For decades, despite the successes at the Garden of the Bruins and Celtics, the City of Boston took some stiff upper lip pride in its athletic struggles, particularly the long World Championship baseball drought attributed to the "Curse of the Bambino." But after the drought came the rain, and when it rained, it poured. The first Red Sox glory since 1918 came in October of 2004, sandwiched by back-to-back Super Bowl victories for the New England Patriots. In recognition of the remarkable turn of fortune, this prototype ring was created, believed to be one of just five ever made before the project was scrapped.

The logos of the Patriots and Red Sox appear in miniature on a faux diamond-studded face, encircled by text announcing "City of Champions." Left shank boasts, "New England Patriots, Back to Back," while right reports, "Boston Red Sox, Believe." Construction is non-precious silver-colored metal. No stamping inside band, which measures to a size seven. Mint condition.
