2003 David Wells Game Worn Fielder's Glove. Despite the Yankee victory over the hated Boston Red Sox, pitcher "Boomer" Wells pulls no punches in his critique of his own performance in the game, inscribing "5 Walk Game Blows" along with the rest of the relevant information: "NY vs. Boston, 4 - 3, 7-25-03, No Decision, [signed] David Wells 33." The "Rawlings PRO504DHKSO" model glove exhibits light use from this event, with "Boomer 33" embroidered on the thumb, and the number "17" near the wrist a personal "serial number" of sorts utilized by Wells for all his game gloves. "5 Walk Game" is inked a second time by the wrist strap. Currently number fifty-eight on the all-time wins chart, Wells finds himself sandwiched between legends like Whitey Ford and Catfish Hunter. Any game used equipment from this veteran hurler--and particularly a tough game used glove--should draw a good deal of attention from the educated baseball historian. A letter of provenance from Wells is included. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
