The last of six American League flags in an eight-year span!

2003 American League Championship Ring Presented to Enrique Wilson. An American League Championship ring awarded to Enrique Wilson in 2003 immediately calls to mind the remarkable story of another World Series near-miss just two years earlier. In 2001, Wilson had booked a flight home to the Dominican Republic on November 12th, wanting to remain in New York for the victory parade following what would have been the team's fourth consecutive World Championship. But a weak blooper off the bat of Luis Gonzalez brought home the walk-off Series-winner for the Diamondbacks, and a disappointed Wilson returned home early. Shortly after take-off for the Flight 587 which would have contained Wilson as a World Champion, the plane plummeted into the Belle Harbor neighborhood of Queens, killing all 260 passengers and crew, as well as five on the ground. The noble Mariano Rivera, the decisive game's hard-luck loser, was quick to thank God for his own failure that saved his teammate's life. "I am glad we lost the World Series," he told reporters, "because it means that I still have a friend."

The Yanks were unable to reel in the mighty Marlins in the 2003 Fall Classic, settling for rings such as Wilson's model offered here. The classic Yankees top hat logo rests atop a field of diamonds on the ring's face, framed by raised text that announces, "Yankees American League Champions." Left shank pictures a large Yankees logo rising from the old Stadium between "Wilson" and "Pride." Left shank provides another Yankees bat and hat logo with the year and word "Tradition" applied. Interior band is engraved "Enrique Wilson" and stamped "Balfour 14K." Size nine. Mint condition.
