2002 Roberto Clemente Original Artwork by LeRoy Neiman. The undisputed Heavyweight Champion of sports art passed away in June of this year, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most recognized painters of twentieth century America, and as unquestionably the most famous and collected of all artists in the sports genre. Here we present a very special work created upon the thirty year anniversary of Roberto Clemente's tragic and heroic passing.

The pastel chalk on black paper work provides the appropriate somber tone, Clemente's retired number "21" melting into the dark background in ghostly reverence for the fallen Hall of Famer. It's a work that operates equally as an homage and a farewell. The dimensions of the work are reported at 21x29", and Neiman signs and dates the image at lower left, titling it at lower right. Professional matting and framing conclude the measurements at 28x36". Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
