Description

2002 MLB All-Star Game Pendant. The 2002 MLB All-Star Game, held on July 9, 2002, at Miller Park in Milwaukee, is best remembered for its controversial and anticlimactic ending in a 7-7 tie after 11 innings. Both the American League and National League ran out of available pitchers, leading commissioner Bud Selig-a Milwaukee native-to call the game, sparking boos from fans and widespread criticism. Despite the unsatisfying conclusion, the game featured numerous stars, including Barry Bonds, Torii Hunter, Alex Rodriguez, and Derek Jeter. One of the game's most memorable moments came when Hunter robbed Bonds of a home run with a spectacular leaping catch. The tie outcome led MLB to revamp the All-Star Game's format the following year, awarding home-field advantage in the World Series to the league that won the game, a rule that lasted until 2016.

Offered is a pendent made to commemorate the Midsummer Classic. The .5x1" item features raised lettering on the perimeter and a faux diamond in the center of a sapphire-like base. General wear such as slight oxidation exhibited.
