Description

2001 San Francisco Giants Game Used Opening Day Base. This lot has been updated:
Letter of Provenance from Kirk Rueter.

The 2001 San Francisco Giants were a competitive team led by the historic performance of Barry Bonds, who broke the single-season home run record with an astonishing 73 home runs. Bonds also set records for walks (177) and slugging percentage (.863), earning him the National League MVP award. Despite Bonds' historic season and solid contributions from Jeff Kent, who drove in 106 runs, and a capable pitching staff anchored by Jason Schmidt and Liván Hernández, the Giants finished second in the NL West with an 90-72 record, narrowly missing the playoffs. The season is best remembered for Bonds' individual dominance, which overshadowed the team's postseason absence.

Offered is a base used during the ballclub's opening day. General use wear exhibited.
