Description

2001 Roberto Alomar Gold Glove Award. The last of ten Gold Glove Awards for this newest member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, earned during the star second baseman's final season with the Cleveland Indians before his trade to the New York Mets. Alomar's .993 fielding average led the American League this season, as did his 157 games as a second baseman, proving that Alomar's recognition by the folks at Rawlings wasn't mere tradition.

This tenth Award broke a tie with Ryne Sandberg for most Gold Gloves earned by a second baseman, elevating the presented specimen to the height of collecting appeal. Some repair to the damaged ball holders framing the center image of Alomar and the eponymous Gold Glove will only be apparent upon the closest of inspection, with the Award otherwise presenting as NRMT. A special piece which established its recipient as the most decorated defensive second baseman in Major League history.
