    Description

1999 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Bronze Statue by Palmer Murphy. Extraordinary creation is one of the most painstakingly detailed works we've seen in bronze sports art, capturing the most celebrated slugging tandem in Major League history at the peak of their respective primes. The scene is one of the favorites of period photographers--one player examining the bat of the other, but we can't get over the plenitude of small touches--the oval of the Hillerich & Bradsby label on the bat, the ridged stitching in the cap visors, and the absolutely perfect likenesses of each legend's face.

Including the wooden base, the statue stands a foot tall. Weight is fifteen pounds (15 lbs.). Light wear visible on the stand.

Murphy's work has been showcased publicly at both the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore, and is unquestionably one of the most skilled artisans working in bronze today.
