1995 Mickey Mantle Rawlings Presentation Funeral Glove. The baseball and sporting world was rocked when Mickey Mantle died in 1995 after battling alcoholism for years. Baby Boomers everywhere lost their favorite athlete from childhood. One of the men who aided in the funeral was longtime friend Murphy Martin, a former New York anchorman who was a life-long friend of the Mantles. Rawlings re-created the same model of glove Mantle used and the Mantle family gifted them to pall bearers and other members as a token of appreciation. This Rawlings MM model glove has a plastic case and gold placard, which reads: "Presented to Murphy Martin You Were Always There When It Truly Counted. With God's Love And Eternal Light. We Thank You The Mickey Mantle Family 1931-1995 Teammate In The True Sense." Only a handful of these gloves were produced and this is the first we have seen.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
