Description

1995 Cal Ripken Jr. Game Used Glove, PSA/DNA Authentic. Cal Ripken Jr. was baseball's saving grace. Like death and taxes, the Iron Horse was in the lineup. Sprains, contusions and other maladies could not keep Ripken off the field. Finally, in 1995 Ripken eclipsed Lou Gehrig's time-honored record for consecutive games played. Few figured a modern day player would be able to unseat Gehrig's record. This Rawlings Pro-6HF glove was secured by famed glove expert Denny Esken during Spring Training of 1996 and used by Ripken his record-setting season. Esken's letter of provenance states: "The glove was personally acquired by a close contact at the Rawlings Sporting Goods Company named (blackened out) the operator of the Rawlings caravan. He acquired the glove from a close contact of Cal Ripken's within the clubhouse."

Constructed out of "Heart of the Hide" horween leather, the 12" glove features a single post double T-bar web and is a "FastBack" model. "Cal Ripken" is embroidered in black thread near the thumb. Excellent pocket wear is visible inside. Evidence of of scrapping on the tips of the fingers is also apparent. Esken further mentions the leather on the interior palm and finger points of entry have darkened from perspiration. LOA from PSA/DNA, Dennis Esken. LOA from The Ball Stops Here, Dennis Eksen. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
