Includes signed letter of provenance from the Hall of Fame southpaw!

1987 Minnesota Twins World Championship Ring Presented to Steve Carlton. It was the first World Championship in Minnesota for this franchise born in 1901 as the Washington Senators, and just the second in the full history of the team after Walter Johnson led the nation's capital to the promised land in 1924. Here we present the Championship ring to a fellow ace who joins the Big Train in Cooperstown immortality and ranks number four on the all-time strikeout leaderboard. At age forty-two, Lefty was nearing the end of his twenty-four seasons in the Majors when he pitched his 329th and final career victory for the 1987 Twins, making just one more start in 1988 after the presentation of this gleaming symbol of achievement.

The ring appears exactly as it was supplied to the four-time Cy Young Award-winner, in Mint condition and housed in both its original hinged wooden display case and cardboard Josten's packaging. Genuine diamonds spangle the logo "M" set into a blue stone on the face, and encircled with raised text announcing, "Twins World Champions." Left shank announces "Carlton" and "39" on either side of the Twins logo. Right shank provides the vintage and an image of the coveted World Series trophy along with the tally of the tightly-contested seven-game Series, the first in history in which the home team won every game. Interior band is stamped "10K Jostens" and measures to a size ten and a half.

While any World Championship ring from the four major American sports merits a great deal of collector interest, it goes without saying that those few deriving from the personal collections of Hall of Fame legends are a breed apart. As the final hardware earned in combat by one of the most decorated pitchers in Major League history, this is a prize that sparkles as brightly as it did as it did when it marked the dawn of a new day in Minnesota, and the closing of a brilliant career for Carlton. Letter of provenance from Steve Carlton. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (Carlton letter of provenance). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (Carlton letter of provenance).
