    Description

1986 Humidor Given as Gift by George Steinbrenner and the New York Yankees. Exquisite humidor with "Cartier" maker's mark was a gift to a longtime friend of the Boss, a man whose identity we were able to track down in Gay Talese's book "A Writer's Life." It would appear that Shields was a Beverly Hills restaurateur and Red Sox fan who nonetheless gained the affection of Steinbrenner, who often invited Shields to sit in his box when the Red Sox visited the Bronx. Crafted from shiny pewter, the wood lined box is engraved on the lid, "Presented to Patrick Shields on the Occasion of his 50th Birthday from His Friends George Steinbrenner and The New York Yankees, May 20, 1986." The lid is a bit indented but presents well, affixed with a miniature golden Yankees cap, bat and ball. Dimensions approximately 6x9x1.5".
