1985 Lou Whitaker Silver Slugger Award. The third of four career Silver Sluggers for the man who serves as half (along with Alan Trammell) of the longest running double-play combination in Major League history. But while Whitaker was also a master with the leather, this prize is all about the lumber, naming the Tigers second baseman as the finest American League hitter at his position. Other Junior Circuit stars honored that season include Fisk, Brett, Ripken, Winfield and Rickey Henderson. The award features full-sized silver bat mounted on a wooden stand bearing a Louisville Slugger logo and engraved plaque announcing Whitaker as a "Member of The Sporting News American League Offensive Team, 1985." Whitaker has signed the bat in 10/10 black sharpie, adding a "4x Silver Slugger" notation. Minimal handling wear, NRMT.
