Description

1984 Mike Schmidt Silver Slugger Award. He remains one of the most beloved figures in the long and illustrious sports history of the City of Brotherly Love, and this is one of the most important symbols of his brilliance to reach the collecting market. The superstar Philadelphia Phillies slugger claimed two-thirds of the Triple Crown this season, topping all National Leaguers with his thirty-six long balls and 106 runs batted in to earn his fifth of six career Silver Slugger Awards.

Here we find the award in question, presented by leading bat manufacturer Hillerich & Bradsby/Louisville Slugger. The design pairs a full-sized silver bat with a wooden stand and engraved plaques, celebrating the presenter and recipient of this elite honor. "Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Silver Slugger Award," it announces, "Presented to Mike Schmidt - 3B, Philadelphia Phillies, Member of The Sporting News National League Offensive Team 1984." The recipients at other positions are listed below, including fellow Cooperstown immortals Gary Carter, Ryne Sandberg and Tony Gwynn.

The large and impressive award presents very well, with only light handling wear to report.
