    Description

1981 Andrew Dawson Silver Slugger Award. The Hall of Fame outfielder finished second to fellow Cooperstonian Mike Schmidt in MVP voting this year, but each earned this most coveted batting award. Here we present Dawson's personal model, presented to him for stats that included a .302 average and forty-eight extra base hits. A full-sized silver bat is mounted on a wooden stand bearing a Louisville Slugger logo and engraved plaque naming Dawson as a "Member of The Sporting News National League Offensive Team, 1981." Other winners that season included Gary Carter, Pete Rose, Mike Schmidt and George Foster. Minor handling wear is evident but the award presents perfectly, surviving as a silent tribute to a man who joins only Barry Bonds and Willie Mays in the 400 HR-300 SB Club.
