Consigned by the Ashburn family with its letter of provenance

1980 Philadelphia Phillies World Series Championship Ring Presented to Richie Ashburn. No Major League outfielder--not Mantle, not Mays, not Snider--recorded as many putouts in the 1950's as the man to whom this gorgeous symbol of excellence was presented, a player whose own taste of Fall Classic action was confined to a four-game sweep by the New York Yankees as a member of the 1950 "Whiz Kids." Ashburn witnessed this first of only two franchise World Championships from the Phillies' broadcasting booth, where the 1995 Hall of Fame inductee earned a new generation of fans with his folksy delivery of such lines as "This fella on first looks runnerish," and "It's a leadpipe cinch that they'll bunt here."

Identical to those earned on the field of battle by Rose, Schmidt and Luzinski, the ring supplies a real diamond-studded logo "P" set into a red stone on the face, encircled by raised text reporting the glorious text, "Philadelphia Phillies World Champions." Left shank is dominated by a miniature Veterans Stadium and framed by the recipient's surname and the four games to two result over the Kansas City Royals. Right shank reports the historic vintage above a figural World Series trophy. Interior band is stamped "LGB 10K" and measures to a size ten (10).

As the ultimate symbol of a first franchise World Championship, issued to one of the greatest figures in the history of that franchise, it's a relic that should inspire no shortage of Brotherly Love. The ring is consigned to auction by the Ashburn family, with their letter of provenance. Letter of provenance from Ashburn family.
