Includes letter of provenance from Sanguillen himself!

1979 Pittsburgh Pirates World Championship Ring Presented to Manny Sanguillen. Many baseball historians credit the three-time All-Star's pinch hit RBI single in the top of Game Two's ninth inning as the key play in realizing World Championship glory for this beloved Pirates edition, a clutch performance that proved to be the Series-tying game-winner. The Panamanian veteran was one of just just three Pirates (with Willie Stargell and pitcher Bruce Kison) left over from the 1971 World Champions, but that last-gasp hit was arguably the biggest of Sanguillen's career, one spent almost entirely in the service of the black and gold.

Here we present the ring he earned as a member of that famous "We Are Family" Pirates edition, a rare and important Championship award accompanied by a detailed letter of provenance from Sanguillen himself. Genuine diamonds give sparkle to the logo letter "P" set into a black stone on the ring's face, encircled by raised text announcing "Pirates World Champions." Left shank identifies the original owner in the form of "Sanguillen 35," that name and jersey number framing a Pirates mascot and that disco-dancing theme song title, "We Are Family." Right shank holds a Three Rivers Stadium in miniature with a boldly crafted "1979." Interior band is stamped "10K" with a Josten's logo, and measures to a size twelve.

While any World Series ring is highly collectible, there are certain Championship teams whose enduring fame elevates the appeal above the rest of the pack. We see it in the 1927 Yankees, the 1969 Mets and these 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates, who rallied from a three games to one deficit to take the Series in seven, the last two victories at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium. No World Series team has won a Game Seven on the road since. With the Steelers having claimed victory in Super Bowl XIII earlier in the year, it's an era of glory in Steeltown that will never be forgotten. NRMT-MT condition. Letter of provenance (with photograph) from Manny Sanguillen. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (Sanguillen letter of provenance). Full LOA from James Spence Authentication (Sanguillen letter of provenance).
