1976 Major League Baseball All-Star Game Ring Presented to Rod Carew. Arguably one of the most underrated players occupying a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame, Carew played Ty Cobb's game long after the attentions of the baseball world had turned to the Babe Ruth model, trading power for placement and brawn for blazing speed. Carew claimed the American League batting title seven times during the 1970's, unquestionably the most effective batsman of the decade.

This ring found the Twins great at the height of his powers, issued to Carew to commemorate his tenth of eighteen consecutive All-Star nods. The event took on a patriotic theme, played in the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence during the Bicentennial of our nation. A figural baseball appears on a red stone on the ring's face, encircled by raised text announcing, "Baseball All-Star, American National." Left shank is engraved with the owner's surname above a figural Liberty Bell, while right shank supplies a Major League Baseball logo and the vintage. Interior band is marked "LGB QP" for Quasar Plus (metallic alloy), and measures to a size ten. Original Balfour box included. Fine condition.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
