1975 Mike Schmidt Game Worn Philadelphia Phillies Batting Helmet. Baseball historian/statistician once stated in an edition of his famed Baseball Abstract that if Mike Schmidt had hit .320 for his career instead of .267, he would be ranked as the greatest player ever. Schmidt's greatness is inescapable, confirmed by the twelve All-Star berths, ten Gold Gloves, eight home run crowns, three N.L. MVPs, a World Series MVP, and World Series championship in his possession.

On offer here is a rare, early batting helmet worn by the greatest third baseman in Major League Baseball history during the 1975 season when, at the tender age of twenty-five, he hit a N.L. high thirty-eight home runs.

This fire-engine-red batting helmet, with sole left ear flap to protect the right-handed Schmidt, displays a well-worn Phillies "P" logo on front and a dot on the crown, both in white. The outer brim and rear report Mike's identifying "20" in vintage black marker. About half of the inner padding is still intact, with remnants visible for the parts missing. An "ABC" logo appears on the back of the helmet in white, with an "American Baseball Cap 7 3/8" label affixed inside. The helmet displays heavy game wear which includes a crack running from the center of the crown down through the back "20." A tough find for a A-list HOFer.
