    Description

1972 Roberto Clemente's 3,000th Hit & Last Game Ticket Stub. Tragedy would strike three months later when the Hall of Famer's airplane went down while on a humanitarian mission to Nicaragua, but we must assume that there is some justice in the universe that this fine man was able to notch his 3,000th career hit before his fatal accident. Little could the fan who used this September 30, 1972 ticket at Three Rivers Stadium have known that this game would be Clemente's last, but nobody at the time could doubt that an historic event was being witnessed when Roberto laced a fourth inning double off the Mets' Jon Matlack to enter the prestigious hitting club. The stub remains in fine condition for display, with a minor crease that is only visible upon very close inspection, otherwise NRMT in appearance.
