1972 Charles O. Finley Oakland A's World Series Championship Salesman's Sample Ring. One of the most talented and bizarre teams ever to take to the baseball diamond, the Oakland Athletics of the 1970's won five consecutive N.L. West titles and three consecutive World Series with stars like Reggie Jackson and Catfish Hunter.

At the helm of the franchise was one outrageous, innovative and controversial owner named Charlie O. Finley. He promoted orange baseballs and bases and was instrumental in bringing about the designated hitter and World Series night games. He also possessed a talent for alienating everyone he dealt with. When he wanted to make his right fielder Hank Bauer his new manager he had the P.A. announcer say: "Hank Bauer your playing days are over. You have been named manager of the Kansas City A's."

The salesman sample ring on offer here displays "1972 World Champions" surrounding a large, oval Kelly-green stone. The sides read "A's 4 Mets 3, A's 4 Reds 3, S+S=S [sweat + sacrifice = success]" and "Oakland, Finley." The ring measures to a size of eight-and-three-quarters (8.75) and weighs thirty grams (30 g.) with the inner band stamped "14K Jostens." NRMT and outrageously beautiful.
