1971 Roberto Clemente Signed Glove with Al Barlick Letter of Provenance. "I was retiring at the end of the season," writes the Hall of Fame umpire. "It was late in September and that was the last time I would see Bobby. I was umpiring at second base as Roberto headed to his position in right field. I stopped him and said, 'Bobby, you know this is my last year.' And Bobby replied, 'I know, Al.' I asked him if he would happen to have a glove I could have for my grandson. Bobby said, 'I don't have an extra glove with me but you give Houlihan [Pirates equipment manager] your address and I will send you one...Time passes. Very late in November of that year I received a box from Puerto Rico. Enclosed was the glove signed to me from Roberto."

If you are at all familiar with Clemente's reputation, this gesture of kindness should come as no surprise. The unused retail model "MacGregor Roberto Clemente Autograph Model" glove is gorgeously inscribed across the back of the glove in 9/10 black marker, "To Al, With lots of admiration and respect, Roberto Clemente." It is one of the most impressive Clemente autographed items we've ever encountered, flawlessly preserved and documented, and dating to the last World Championship season that the Pirates legend would enjoy before his untimely passing. Notarized letter of provenance from Al Barlick. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
