Description

1970's Casey Stengel Handwritten Letters Lot of 2 from the Casey Stengel Collection. Pair of letters are written to Stengel's caretaker, from whose family our offerings derive. An undated letter on Mets stationery is cryptic and rambling, noting "I am going to try out my skill as a auto driver next Friday...No more letter of great or greater people." He signs simply "C.D.S." Second letter is dated "Feb. 20th, 73" and is another rambling manifesto about work and personal regards. Personal letterhead pictures his Hall of Fame plaque. Unsigned. Also here is a mailing envelope, also unsigned but written in Stengel's unmistakable hand. All ink is 10/10, and letters and envelope show no noteworthy condition flaws. Derives from the Casey Stengel Collection of personally owned possessions. LOA from PSA/DNA.
