Description
1968 Carl Yastrzemski Game Used & Signed Fielder's Glove, PSA/DNA Authentic. Yaz is mostly remembered for his 1967 Triple Crown season, three American League batting titles and eighteen A.L. All-Star berths. However, what is often overlooked is that he was also a defensive force in left field, who earned seven Gold Glove awards.Yastrzemski was a self-made Hall of Famer and that was never more evident than by the countless hours that he spent honing the solid defensive skills that would propel him to a place among the elite defensive layers in the history of the game. Presented here is the glove Yaz used in 1968 when he was an All-Star, batting champion and won his fourth Gold Glove award.
Spalding 43-203-X professional model fielder's glove displays substantial wear throughout the body, web face and pocket. "Carl Yastrzemski Personal Model" is stamped in the palm. A fading Yastrzemski autograph appears on the back of the thumb sleeve. Also, "Mike Lahoud" and "Lahoud" appear on the back of the middle finger and edge of the pinky sleeve, respectively, in black marker. PSA/DNA serialized sticker (1G00731) affixed.
In the LOA from PSA, glove expert and authenticator Dennis Eskin details the provenance of the glove: "Joe Lahoud and Carl Yastrzemski were Red Sox teammates in the late 1960's. According to Mike Lahoud, Joe's younger brother, Yaz and Joe were good friends. The glove was given to Mike at his home following a visit by Yaz, where the two tossed a football around for several minutes."
