Description

1965 Carl Mays Handwritten Questionnaire. Best remembered as the man who delivered the fatal blow to Ray Chapman's skull while pitching on August 16, 1920 at the Polo Grounds, Mays understandably fails to mention that tragic day in this questionnaire he faithfully fills out for a young collector. He recounts his greatest thrills in baseball, offers his opinion on the greatest ever (Cobb and Ruth), and expresses that "the Red Sox Club from 1915 through 1918 could and would beat any Club in Baseball today." He closes with a full signature that he dates "Oct. 27th - 1965." All blue ink and the page (8.5x11") itself display as NRMT-MT. LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.
