Description

1964 Vic Power Gold Glove Award. When the game's most prestigious defensive award began in 1957 it was issued as a single award for players of both leagues (and won by the Brooklyn Dodgers' Gil Hodges at the first base position), but when it switched to matching awards for each league, Vic Power swept the first sacker's award rankings for seven straight seasons. Here we present his seventh and final award, presented to the Los Angeles Angels star in 1964. His previous six awards are noted on the engraved plate on the bottom, just below his smiling face. As our catalog imagery will clearly indicate, the award has been damaged over the passing decades, with the glove and baseballs broken from the base. The former remains present and accounted for, though the latter have been lost. Certainly a skilled restorationist could return the award to its former glory however, should the winning bidder choose to take on the project.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
