    Description

1963 Hank Aaron 300th Home Run Trophy with Photo Style Match from Yearbook. The Braves had a one-two punch that could rival any in baseball history. Hank Aaron and Eddie Mathews were teammates during their formative years, first in Milwaukee and later in Atlanta. The dynamic duo combined for a record 863 home runs which has stood the test of time. McCovey/Mays and even Ruth/Gehrig look up to the Hall of Fame sluggers which kept the Braves near the top of their division.

Early in the 1963 season, Mathews belted home run 400 while Aaron smacked his 300th round tripper. The Braves decided to honor both of their homer happy teammates with plaques to commemorate their achievements. This 13x20" wooden plaque was recently unearthed at an estate sale in the Milwaukee area. The 1964 Braves yearbook (page 37) shows a photo of Mathews and Aaron getting their trophies during a pregame ceremony. "Presented to Hank Aaron In Recognition Of Being The 12th Player In The National League History To Hit 300 Home Runs April 19, 1963 The Milwaukee Braves" is engraved to a gold placard. Baseball bats line the sides while an eagle (some oxidation) takes residence on top. An image Aaron is located just below the engravings. The only missing piece is the raised outlining around the baseball player reference. The trophy shows signs of wear throughout. "Custom Made Trophy Athletic Sply Co. Milwaukee Wisconsin" is engraved into the back. There is a metal hanger for display. One of the few personal trophies from the home run king which has reached the auction block.
