    Description

1961 "61 in '61 or Bust" Pinback. While one occasionally comes across other examples of the oversized "Shooting for 61 in '61" pinback in the hobby, we cannot recall ever seeing another example of this one before. While it doesn't quite measure up to its big brother in terms of physical size (3.5" diameter), the tremendous rarity and undeniable visual and historical appeal of this button should make it a serious competitor for the blue ribbon among all post-war pinbacks. The fine, vintage quality of the pin's production leads us to believe it was sold at the Bronx ballpark, though it must have been offered in very limited quantities. The face of the pin presents as NRMT at any reasonable distance, with minor surface scratches visible only upon particularly close inspection. A few patches of oxidation on the verso present no cause for concern, and do not affect the display in the slightest. Educated hobbyists will surely wish to seize this rare opportunity to own what may well be the most desirable post-war pinback to be offered at auction this year.
