1957 Topps Brooks Robinson Rookie #328 from The Brooks Robinson Collection. Dave Winfield had one of the great lines of any Hall of Fame induction speech, telling the Cooperstown crowd, "If I'd have known I would've been this successful, I would have saved all my rookie cards!" But, like Winfield, Brooks Robinson only saved one of his own, and it is proudly presented here, picturing a youthful grin on the front and the statistics of all twenty-one of his Major League games to date on reverse.

The 1957 Topps issue remains one of the most important in trading card history as the first to utilize full-color photography, and Robinson joins future teammate Frank Robinson, Don Drysdale and Bill Mazeroski as key rookies. Brooks' personal model is wonderfully preserves with only typical corner wear to suggest nearly six decades of life. Imperfect centering is the main factor in the SGC 60 EX 5 rating. The SGC slab identifies this as, arguably, the most significant example of this important cardboard keepsake, with Robinson himself likewise supplying his personal letter of assurance. Letter of provenance from Brooks Robinson.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
