1957 Roy Sievers American League Home Run & RBI Leader Trophy. When we met Roy Sievers at a Heritage appraisal event in his St. Louis hometown, he admitted that he had really wanted to win the "Babe Ruth Crown," the regal headgear/trophy which for years has been awarded to the top long ball artist of each League. Unfortunately, in 1957, just one of these awards was issued for the entirety of Major League Baseball, and a guy named Hank Aaron edged him by a tally of forty-four to forty-two. But this is a heck of a consolation prize, a thirty-one inch tall trophy bearing an engraved plaque on the base reading, "Maryland Professional Baseball Players Association, 1957 Outstanding Player Award, Roy Sievers, American League Leader in Home Runs and Runs Batted In." Numbers two and three for homers in 1957? Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle.

The trophy survives in fine condition, with one of the laurel-wreathed victors on the base snapped off at the ankles but needing only a couple drops of super glue to stand again. Our catalog photography pictures the figure in position.
