1957 Don "Mandrake the Magician" Mueller New York Giants Game Worn Cap - Final Season in New York!. A rare and tremendous exemplar from the Giants and Polo Grounds sunset season, this cap's historic 1957 vintage is corroborated by its tagging and player numbers.

Black felt cap with orange button and "NY" logo has a "Tim McAuliffe" manufacturers tag and "Pro KM Cap 7 1/8" stamped on the leather headband. Brim displays a faded "5" and bold "22", both in black laundry marker. The cap was worn by both All-Star right fielder Don "Mandrake the Magician" Mueller (#22) and catcher Ray Katt (#5). Interior headband shows desirable game wear, while the visor is perfectly malleable and uncreased. Also, the exterior displays marvelously, without any notable distractions.

This fine specimen serves as a worthy exclamation to a seventy-four-year love affair that ended with the Giants 1957 'night cap' season, before they went west to San Francisco. Sixty years later, many New Yorkers still hold a candle for their beloved Giants and Polo Grounds.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
