1953 Ty Cobb Handwritten & Signed Letter. The Dead Ball Era's greatest star writes to his personal physician, Dr. Gordon Oldham, in his beloved vacation home of Twin Falls, Idaho. Cobb tells of his wife becoming ill while visiting friends, theorizing that it had been a beverage that had ironically brought Cobb enormous wealth that was the culprit: "They had contracted a virus on a trip to Bermuda--Heppatitis (sic). Frances and I had a Coca Cola right to the day or close to the incubation period." Cobb assures his doctor that he is still "in the clear so far" however. He signs the letter, "Sincerely, Ty." All writing is in Cobb's famous green ink, 10/10 throughout. Original unsigned mailing envelope is here as well. Pages exhibit original mailing folds, otherwise NRMT. This letter is consigned by Bill Oldham, son of Gordon, to whom the single signed baseball likewise presented within this auction is inscribed. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA.
