    Description

Important prize from the Bums' starting third baseman

1953 Brooklyn Dodgers National League Championship Ring Presented to Billy Cox. For seven seasons he was a fixture at the hot corner of Ebbets, anchoring the left side of an infield populated with true Brooklyn royalty: Robinson, Reese, Hodges and Campanella. Cox led all Dodgers with six runs batted in during the fourth Subway Series match-up with the New York Yankees in 1953, but Brooklyn would fall in six, setting into motion the production of rings celebrating the National League Championship the team had claimed by a thirteen-game margin. The team's .682 regular season winning percentage remains the best in franchise history to this day.

Here we present Cox' personal model, one of just a tiny handful of player rings from this important season to reach the hobby's auction block. A blue sapphire is framed by four small genuine diamonds on the face, encircled by raised text reporting, "National League Champions." Each identical shank announces the "1953" vintage and team logo on either side of a splendidly detailed Ebbets Field portico in miniature.

Interior band is stamped "Balfour 10k" and engraved "Billy Cox" in artful script. Measures to a size eight and a half (8.5). The rare original embossed leather ring box is included. Both ring and box survive in remarkably fine condition with no caveats to report. Original 1994 purchase LOA included.
